China's fitness equipment regional market report: East China leads the way, and the market potential in the central and western regions is highlighted
News from this newspaper: Recently, the "2026 China Fitness Equipment Regional Market Development Report" was released. The report focuses on the four major regions of East China, South China, North China, and the Midwest, and comprehensively interprets the development status and trends of the fitness equipment market in each region. The data shows that the regional market presents a development pattern of "East China leads the way, and the Midwest accelerates", and regional differences are gradually narrowing.
With the Yangtze River Delta’s complete manufacturing supply chain and high per capita disposable income, East China ranks first with a market share of 32.7%, becoming the core consumption and production region of China’s fitness equipment. This area has gathered leading companies such as Shuhua and Impulse, with a significant industrial cluster effect. At the same time, consumers are highly receptive to high-end smart fitness equipment, online and offline channels are maturely integrated, and the market maturity ranks among the top in the country.
South China and North China follow closely with market shares of 19.4% and 17.8% respectively. Relying on the export advantages of the Pearl River Delta, South China has a prominent export scale of fitness equipment. At the same time, consumer demand for household fitness equipment is strong; North China is characterized by the commercial fitness equipment market, with stable procurement demand from gyms and enterprises and institutions, driving the steady growth of the regional market.
Although the market base in the central and western regions is low, it has benefited from the promotion of the "National Fitness Shortcomings Compensation Project" policy and has become the fastest growing market region. The retail sales growth rate of fitness equipment will reach 15.6% in 2023, which is higher than the national average. As the income level and health awareness of residents in the central and western regions increase, the demand for home entry-level fitness equipment continues to be released. At the same time, the government has increased investment in fitness facilities, driving the growth of the commercial fitness equipment market.
The "Report" pointed out that the consumption characteristics of each regional market are obviously different. East China and South China prefer high-end smart products, while the central and western regions mainly focus on cost-effective entry-level products. In the future, with the accelerated penetration of lower-tier markets and the balanced regional development, the central and western regions will become important growth poles of China's fitness equipment market, and companies need to optimize product and channel layout based on regional characteristics.
